Enrichment

After school clubs

At Newington, we offer a wide range of exciting after school clubs. All clubs start at 3.15pm and finish at 4.15pm. They are run by our wonderful staff, who are dedicated to ensuring our children have opportunities and resources to explore and engage in extra-curricular activities. If you are interested in one of our clubs, please enquire at our school office.

Educational Trips and Workshops

At Newington, we ensure children are given the opportunities for first-hand experiences, educational visits and topical workshops to enrich the curriculum.

Over the years, we have had local visits to Wingham wildlife park, the beach, the fire station and Ramsgate Tunnels. We are also lucky enough to have visited venues slightly further away, such as Dover castle and London.

Please have a look at the overview of trips for each year group below. These could change slightly each year depending on the curriculum adaptations and needs of the children.

Term 5 Extravaganza!

At Newington we have an incredibly exciting Term 5 experience. Years 1-6 have a whole school trip to London to watch a London Westend Show.

This year, we will be going to watch:

KS1 – Matilda

KS2 - Wicked

Every staff member attends this and shares the experience with the children. As a school, this experience then becomes part of our Term 5 curriculum, where children have the opportunity to develop their dance skills and musical talents in lessons with our specialist teachers.

At the end of Term 5, we come together to put on a whole school performance for parents to come and watch. It is truly a very special part of Newington.

Year 6 Residential Trip

Our Year 6 children have an opportunity to attend a two-day residential trip before they leave us. The residential trip is an important and much-loved element of the Year 6 school calendar. The trip takes place in July and is a fantastic event that celebrates our time together and prepares our students for their next steps in their educational journey.

This year our children will be returning on a Bushcraft adventure to Penshurst Place for a two-day ‘Bushcraft Camp’ outdoor experience. This is an exciting opportunity for children to learn through adventure in a safe, yet challenging, environment; the adventure activities are designed to develop leadership skills and resilience, demanding resourcefulness, decision-making and practical thinking from the children. Children will put technology to one side and gain a real taste of outdoor adventure, making lifelong memories, before they leave Newington.

Throughout the two days, children will undertake a range of activities including: fire building, shelter building, trap making, camp crafts, camouflage as well as the famous Bushcraft Challenge! All meals are provided and freshly cooked in a woodland kitchen by the camp chefs! The children will also have the opportunity to prepare lunch and snacks over a camp fire, to gain an authentic bushcraft experience! At night, the children will sleep in bell tents, which surround a large central yurt and camp fire.
